Secure Posting from Hotspot

Posted on | December 27, 2007 |

I’ve used Logmein before and now that I have hosting again I’ll be taking my laptop with me to town and Logmein provides a secure 256 bit connection to my computer at home when I’m using a WiFi connection at a coffeehouse or random hotspot.

It couldn’t be easier to connect to the house remotely and just use my computer at home from the laptop in the field.

Logmein uses a number of security features before a connection is made and I recommend this service if you use a laptop in pubic places or just need to connect to your computer at home when you’re away.

There are other ways to connect but this adds an extra layer of security from public hotspots.

    Hi Folks!

Just wanted to share my new experience.

If your Windows XP denies to start due to an error corresponding to missing HAL.DLL, invalid Boot.ini or any other critical system boot files you can repair this by using the XP installation CD. Simply boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console. Then run “attrib -H -R -S” on the C:\Boot.ini file and delete it. Launch “Bootcfg /Rebuild” and then Fixboot

    Regards,
    Carl

Funny you should mention that. I have to “Fixboot” about a month ago on a dual boot system (XP Pro / Backtrack 3).

Of course that has nothing to do with the post.
